David Yeagley
David Yeagley is a Comanche Indian and member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma.
He is a columnist for David Horowtiz’ Front Page Magazine where he advocates conservative ideas from an American Indian point of view. These include the right of citizens to own firearms and to freely express American patriotism in public. Dr. Yeagley is very concerned about anti-American immigration.
Dr. Yeagley believes the American Indian warrior mascots are a strong, positive image, and when understood, are important character building elements in American society. However, he protests the invasion of the “Indian” casinos and their corruption of Indian sovereignty. Dr. Yeagley is deeply concerned about nationhood.
During his years of teaching Humanities and Psychology at Oklahoma State University, Dr. Yeagley observed that American patriotism was absent in his students.
In August of 2000, Dr. Yeagley presented to Governor Frank Keating the idea of mandatory teaching of patriotism in public schools. The Governor supported the idea, and asked for a formal proposal to present to the Oklahoma State Legislature 2001 session. Yeagley’s proposal was presented to the Governor in November of 2000.
Dr. Yeagley was fired from OSU-OKC in May, 2001, as a result of the publicity caused by his public advocacy of conservative views. In September, 2001, he taught for the University of Oklahoma's College of Liberal Arts, but was dismissed for apparently the same reasons.
Dr. Yeagley has appeared on national radio and television, including Ken Hamblin’s show, Hannity & Colmes, Bill O’reilly, C-Span, and History Channel’s “Comanche Warriors.” He has been with YAF since 2001.
