Watch YAF & Ben Shapiro Bring Conservative Ideas to UC Berkeley

Tickets to see Ben Shapiro at UC Berkeley are now available! Young America’s Foundation (YAF) and Berkeley College Republicans (BCR) are excited to welcome New York Times best-selling author Ben Shapiro to speak on September 14 at the University of California, Berkeley at 7:00 PM PT in Zellerbach Hall. At last, students on the Berkeley campus will be able to hear Ben Shapiro share core conservative principles while denouncing the divisive nature of violent, masked groups who resort to violence to suppress ideas. This breakthrough event will finally allow both liberal and conservative students to engage Ben Shapiro in an educational setting where he will share the importance of free speech and how various fringe groups work to divide Americans by obsessing over race and class. Following his initial remarks, Shapiro will take questions from members of the audience. YAF has agreed to step forward to pay the exorbitant security fees that UC-Berkeley levied against the BCR in order to host Shapiro on campus. Therefore, there is no need for self-proclaimed vigilantes to attend the event to defend Ben Shapiro. Those who wish to peacefully attend the lecture, regardless of their viewpoints, are welcome to attend. Those with the intent to engage in violence will be openly denounced by Ben Shapiro, YAF, and BCR. “Students, I invite you to bring your toughest questions. The purpose of this event is open, honest discussion.” proclaims Shapiro. Free tickets are now available through Zellerbach Hall by visiting [link] or the box office on campus. While Young America’s Foundation has been delighted to see the enthusiasm of students on the Berkeley campus who are eager to hear from Shapiro, the lengths Berkeley administrators went to in attempts to prevent the lecture from taking place and limiting the number of people who will hear from Shapiro remain a major concern. For UC Berkeley’s unconstitutional suppression of conservative speech, Young America’s Foundation and the Berkeley College Republicans filed a lawsuit against Berkeley on April 24, 2017, seeking to enjoin school administrators from violating students’ First Amendment rights. The case is making its way through court.  The next step will be a hearing on a date to be determined by the court. How to attend in person:
  • Visit the Cal Performances Online Ticketing Portal and register for a Berkeley student or general public ticket
  • Please see order confirmation email for specific information regarding ticket pick up and prohibited items
Berkeley’s campus map can be viewed here, and any questions about ticket orders or pickup can be directed to UC Berkeley’s Zellerbach Hall as Berkeley/Cal Performances are overseeing ticketing, not YAF. How to watch live online:
  • Visit YAF.org/live and enter your email to be notified when our stream goes live from UC Berkeley with Ben Shapiro on September 14.
If you’re a member of the press and would live to cover this event:
  • Email Spencer Brown ([email protected]) a credential request with your name, outlet, and medium (print/online vs. TV/radio). *Please note that credentials are limited*
