More than 30 years ago, the brutal dictator Saddam Hussein praised Americans for protesting the war effort, stating, “The people of Iraq are grateful to all the noble souls among the United States people who are coming out into the streets demonstrating against the war.” These Americans ignorantly played into the hands of a tyrant, whose praise for their protests was a cynical attempt to undermine U.S. resolve and exploit internal divisions. Saddam Hussein’s approval of American dissent was a startling reminder of how foreign adversaries can manipulate misguided leftists to serve their own oppressive agendas.
In an eerily familiar manner, Supreme Leader Khamenei posted on X this week, “Dear university students in the United States of America, you are standing on the right side of history. You have now formed a branch of the Resistance Front and have begun an honorable struggle in the face of your government’s ruthless pressure – which openly supports Zionists. In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. I am writing this letter to the young people whose awakened conscience has moved them to defend the oppressed women and #children of Gaza. Dear university students in the United States of America, this message is an expression of our empathy & solidarity with you. Dear university students in the US, my advice to you is to become familiar with the Quran.”
Today, many college students are dangerously unaware of the fact that Middle Eastern regimes want nothing more than to destroy America and take their freedoms.
Recall what happened this past November–some college students were so deeply misled that a TikTok trend emerged, featuring tens of thousands of young people praising Osama bin Laden.
Some of them don’t understand the genocidal call of “From the River to the Sea” or what it really means to wear a keffiyeh.
They most likely don’t understand the true mission of Jihad, which is to establish a radical Islamist state. These radical Islamic values are in direct opposition to everything the American Left claims to stand for.
Just as in 2020 with the BLM movement, when young Americans posted black squares to their social media accounts in order to signify their allegiance to the Left, nowadays, it has become a trend to post an “All Eyes on Rafah” Instagram story without knowing any of the real facts about the issue.
Instead of immediately seeking to post about the latest propaganda pushed by Hamas to show that “you’re a good person,” students should seek out real and factual information.
The Pro-Hamas left has violated students’ First Amendment rights by shutting down a Pro-Israel Speaker at UCLA, hosting a Harvard Commencement speaker who compared Israel to Nazi Germany, They have attempted to steal and vandalize American flags on multiple occasions, disrupted and cancelled graduation ceremonies and congressional hearings, broke into buildings, set up encampments, and incessantly harass Jewish students and faculty on campus.
While leftists attempt to tear apart everything this country stands for, Young Americans for Freedom students throughout the country will honor the one year anniversary of the brutal October 7th attacks by hosting pro-Israel YAF speakers, setting up Israeli flag displays, and standing against the falsehoods and hatred that the Left perpetuates.
Unfortunately, college students have fallen for these tricks before and are doing so again. They have been misled by propaganda and deceitful narratives. YAF is committed to doing everything possible to correct this.
