UW-Milwaukee Hires ‘Queer Metalsmith’ For Guest Lecture

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is inviting a self-proclaimed “queer metalsmith” named “Sulo Bee” for a guest lecture. Bee’s work focuses on transforming “lived experiences” into “fragmented narratives through experimental techniques in metalworking and printmaking.” This includes Bee’s so-called “queer ecology,” through which Bee explores the sexualities of plants and animals through a “transgender and non-binary lens.”

The lecture will be paid for by UWM’s differential tuition fund, an additional fee that students are required to pay each semester. The New Guard has submitted a public records request to determine the cost; this article will be updated accordingly.

In addition to giving speeches, Bee runs a business called “Sparkle Filth” that sells earrings, necklaces, and sculptures that can be used for “worship and chaotic order.”

This move comes as no surprise to those familiar with the University of Wisconsin system’s history of bizarre speaker invitations. For instance, back in 2018, UW-La Crosse’s then-chancellor Joe Gow infamously invited a fellow adult film star to speak to students.

Other speakers that will visit UWM throughout the upcoming school year include a “practitioner of environmental justice,” and an “anti-gentrification” activist.

Universities throughout the country are also giving adherence to leftist ideology more weight than actual quality. For instance, Pennsylvania State University recently awarded a student for a thesis challenging architectural norms by critiquing Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station for “enforcing gender norms,” and proposing a “non-binary” redesign.

By replacing quality and merit with randomness that is magically deemed to be “queer,” leftism is destroying American culture.
