Cameron Van Beek is a junior at Wheaton College studying political science and economics. Originally from Wisconsin, Cameron became interested in the Conservative Movement when Scott Walker took his bold stance for individual freedom as Governor of Wisconsin. Cameron eventually interned on a congressional campaign, which spiked his interest in the Movement. During Cameron’s sophomore year, he helped launch a Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Wheaton College. After attending two YAF training seminars, he felt the conservative voice on campus was not properly represented. Cameron wanted to bring conservative values to a campus where they were drowned out by left-leaning groups. Following a rough start-up period, coupled with the problems of an expansive school bureaucracy that forced their chapter constitution to undergo 30 rewrites, Wheaton YAF began to gain support. In his free time at school, Cameron is involved with Model United Nations, class council, Food for Freedom, a Chicago-based multi-school food drive aiming to break a world record and, of course, YAF, where he serves as the chapter’s vice president. Cameron is excited to be interning with Young America’s Foundation and help the Foundation give back to students around the country. Following graduation, Cameron aspires to attend law school and work in the legal field or in the Conservative Movement.
