In the latest episode of “Unmuted with Marsha,” Senator Marsa Blackburn discussed the alarming rise of anti-semitic activity on college campuses and the legislative measures she and her conservative colleagues are championing to combat this issue.
“These campuses are really at the heart and the center of what we see happening with this pro-Palestine, pro-Hamas movement. And the universities that allow this anti-Semitism on the campuses are–well, I’ve got to tell you–they just ought to be defunded because of what they are allowing to take place,” she said.
“Senator Tim Scott and I and some other senators have authored the ‘Stop Anti-Semitism on College Campuses Act,’ and it would defund these schools. It would allow them to divest from federal funds and not use taxpayer dollars at those campuses.”
In addition to that legislation, Blackburn is also sponsoring a bill entitled the “No Bailouts for Campus Criminals Act.” If passed, pro-Hamas leftists who are convicted of a crime will be prevented from ever having their student loans “forgiven,” or rather, pushed onto the shoulders of the American taxpayer.
Joining the conversation was Julio Rosas, a reporter from the Blaze who has been covering these protests and encampments extensively on-the-ground. Rosas provided first-hand accounts of the situations at universities like UCLA, UC San Diego, and George Washington University. He drew parallels between the current protests and the BLM and Antifa riots of 2020, noting the reactivation of similar networks and the use of similar tactics.
Now that the academic year has come to an end, both Blackburn and Rosas expressed concern over what might happen during the summer and leading up to the 2024 election. The potential for these pro-Hamas encampments to spiral into violent riots is a very real possibility.
Despite pro-Israel displays being vandalized and speaker events that oppose the Left’s pro-Hamas agenda cancelled, YAF is committed to ensuring that students have all of the resources they need to stand with Israel.
