A teaching assistant at the University of Illinois sent an email to her students warning that their next class session may need to be held online, if she gets arrested at tonight’s “What is a Woman?” event featuring Matt Walsh.
“I will be there in my lovely Queer love outfit if you want to see me make a slight fool of myself!” Steph McKeegan told students enrolled in her Politics of Fashion course. “Since I will be there and there might be the potential of getting illegally arrested we might have class on Zoom or another alternative assignment for Friday,” she continued.
The message also shares that the Gender and Women’s Studies Department closed their office for nearly a full week as a “precautionary measure,” and that there will be a handful of counter-programming options for leftists to participate in.
One of the events, a panel discussion, promises to provide a “collaborative conversation on Queer Pride and Trans Power.”
Potentially borrowing a play from Gettysburg College’s book, the department is also hosting a protest sign-making event. This protest plan comes just days after plans to form a “trans pride flag” in the audience fell through due to organizers’ apparent inability to collect more than ten pink, white, and blue t-shirts.
One leftist, who was caught on camera tearing down the YAF chapter’s posters, even vowed to debate Walsh. Who knows? Maybe he’ll finally provide an answer to the question that nobody seems to be able to answer.
The second stop on Walsh’s national college campus tour is sure to be entertaining.
