YAF, working with College Republicans, organized a speech by Dr. Arthur Laffer. Two days before the event, leftists formed a mob and attacked the students who were tabling for the event. Campus police stood by and did nothing.
On the day of Dr. Laffer’s speech, campus police met Dr. Laffer at the airport and told him to leave due to anticipated protests. Dr. Laffer declined. Despite these safety concerns, the school then placed the protest site immediately adjacent to the event site. Also, unsurprisingly, the protesters attempted to take over the Laffer event and initiate a “heckler’s veto” with bullhorns, totally preventing Dr. Laffer’s speech. Campus police did not remove the protesters, but instead removed Dr. Laffer.
