In advance of the Michael Knowles event, multiple New York state actors publicly condemned the event. YAF filed over a dozen public records requests with SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Buffalo Student Association, SUNY Buffalo President, SUNY system Chancellor, SUNY Board of Trustees, The Governor of New York, SUNY Buffalo Police Department, and the State Police Department.
