In true SUNY fashion, Farmingdale State College’s student government ignored a public records request. YAF’s request sought very specific information: How much was Don Lemon paid for a speaking engagement at the college? The SG responded by saying they would provide an update within three months – in violation of the state’s public records law, which requires production of records within 20 days, or a good explanation why more time is necessary. YAF continued to demand the information and was ignored – until YAF filed an appeal. YAF learned Mr. Lemon was paid $75,000 for the event.
