The New York Department of Finical services investigated insurance companies for their contracts with the National Rifle Association and declared those contracts illegal. Later, an state official publicly urged all insurance companies to cut ties with the NRA to protect against “reputational risks.” YAF asked the Court to consider these actions, which clearly violated the rights of people who associate with the NRA.
The Court ruled in favor of the NRA, finding the group presented a First Amendment claim.
