YAF submitted a public records request to the University at Buffalo asking one simple thing: What compensation do student government officials receive? Amazingly, the school claimed they have no information about this question. The student government refused to respond at all, which, according to the school, is because the student government is not subject to public accountability laws. YAF filed an appeal demanding the SUNY system provide transparency in how student and taxpayer money is being spent, as legally required.
Date Commenced: March 2022
Status: The State granted YAF’s appeal and order the school to produce responsive records
