Administrators at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign were less than supportive when YAF activists hosted Matt Walsh in October 2022. They even refused to remove protestors who were hollering right outside the auditorium doors, disrupting Walsh’s speech. YAF submitted a public records request to shed light on these failures and learned: (1) The school’s anti-heckler policies are extremely vague (2) The school directly responded to anti-Walsh complaints with sympathy (see an example below) but ignored pro-Free Speech complaints entirely (3) Administrators wanted to reexamine the school’s news blast to censor conservative-leaning news and (4) The school thinks it appropriate to redact statements given to the press.
