Free Speech Cases
Conservative students often find themselves subject to abuse by leftist school administrators and socialist student governments who ignore the First Amendment in their zeal to silence ideas they dislike. YAF will never abide such unlawful, immoral abuse of power. When leftists deny club status, shortchange club funding, impose absurd security fees, establish unlawful free speech zones, or restrict school resources in a discriminatory fashion, conservative students may always count on YAF standing with them and bringing lawsuits whenever necessary to ensure freedom and justice prevail.
Open Government Actions
Leftist public officials attempt to hide their contempt for conservative students and ideas by speaking temperately in public, but spewing venom in intra-office communications. Their enmity to conservatism is so profound they simply can’t help themselves. YAF works tirelessly to expose these leftists by invoking state laws that allow members of the public to access government records. These statutes, known as “open government laws,” provide YAF an invaluable and powerful tool to hold two-faced, out-of-control administrators accountable.
Conservative Movement Collaboration
YAF routinely partners with other organizations in the Conservative Movement to defend Free Speech. In 2021, YAF helped persuade friendly members in the U.S. Congress to establish “Free Speech Caucasus” in both the House and Senate to aid in the battle against rampant leftist indoctrination that is so pervasive on campus today. YAF also contributes to important initiatives with our many conservative allies, including legal briefs and key letters to lawmakers advocating in favor of policies that support the First Amendment and in opposition to radical schemes that would limit Free Speech.
