Young America’s Foundation’s National Journalism Center (NJC) alumnus Scott Cook is a news reporter with WDAZ-TV in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in history. In 2015, he accepted an internship with the National Journalism Center. For his internship, Scott was placed at the Daily Caller and authored numerous articles on sports, politics, education, healthcare, technology, and international topics. He is considered an expert sports journalism, and during his time at the Daily Caller, he helped triple the size of the sports section and the amount of traffic that section receives. One of his favorite moments as an NJC intern was interviewing Congressman Steve King and Congressman Dennis Kucinich during “Washington Times Idol” at CPAC 2015. He also gained experience through NJC’s video and investigative reporting boot camps which have helped him immensely in his career as a television news reporter. He is extremely grateful for the solid foundation YAF’s NJC program provided him. After his time in the nation’s capitol with NJC, Cook went back to school and received his master’s degree from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Journalism and Communications. At Annenberg, he decided to work toward television reporting after previously focusing on print journalism. After graduating from USC, Cook received a job offer from WDAZ-TV in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he started his career as a TV reporter. Cook has worked with WDAZ since August 2016 and enjoys reporting the stories that are important to the people of the Red River Valley.
