Cal State Purges ‘49er’ Branding From Campus Retail Shops Over Gold Rush ‘Genocide’
August 9, 2023
Three years after killing off “Forty-Niner Man” Prospector Pete for his alleged links to “genocide” and declaring a “non-binary shark” the school’s new mascot, Cal State Long Beach is doing away with some of the the final remnants of its former brand.
According to a report by the Daily Forty-Niner, the campus bookstore, a student services office, an array of restaurants, and convenience stores which were collectively known as the “49er Shops” were renamed the “Beach Shops.”
“It supports the goal of distancing Cal State Long Beach from the genocide of California Indians associated with the California Gold Rush that began in 1849,” Craig Stone, director of American Indian Studies at the university, told the Forty-Niner.
The Left is determined to erase history and long standing traditions that they find even the slightest bit offensive, no matter how ridiculous the reason.
