Catholic Law School Trains Aspiring Lawyers to Advocate for Leftism ‘Through The Perspective of Transgender Women of Color’

Loyola Law School in California wants its students to become “social change lawyers” who see things “through the perspective of transgender women of color,” as opposed to professional attorneys who strive to abide by the letter of the law without bias.

A significant number of courses offered by the Catholic, Jesuit institution are explicitly designed to equip aspiring attorneys with all the talking points and rhetorical skills they’ll need to become advocates for the Left’s flawed goals.

  • “Sexual Identity and the Law,” a two credit hour course, will “begin by exploring the evolution of the rights of gays and lesbians, tracking early doctrines of privacy and equality to the law as it stands today.” Students will also study “the rights of transgender and gender-nonconforming people” and many issues throughout the semester through the eyes of “transgender women of color.”
  • “Police and Prison Abolition,” which will be instructed by career anti-law enforcement lawyer Julia Mendoza, will require students to survey the racial demographics of policing and prisons. They will “explore abolitionist efforts by speaking with abolitionist activists from across the country.”
  • “Reproductive Justice” will explore “reproductive oppression” while contending that “the fight for equality and dignity in matters relating to reproduction continues beyond a successful argument that the Constitution ought to protect a right to privacy, right to access contraception, or right to an abortion.”
  • “Reparations: Theory and Law” will guide students through the history of reparation demand movements and examine the role of the law in those proposals. “Reparations asks how we, as individuals and communities, take responsibility for the ways in which we have wronged people,” Eric Miller, co-director of the Anti-Racism Center and instructor of the course, told the New Guard
  • “Social Change Lawyering: Lobbying, Litigation, Media & More” encourages students to become activist lawyers by strategizing tactics for lobbying legislators and using the media to their advantage. This course will be taught by Jerry Flanagan, an attorney best known for his work to expand the scope of Obamacare.

It’s disappointing to see yet another Catholic institution abandon its values while adopting the Left’s platform as its new religion.
