The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Prescott Young Americans for Freedom chapter (ERAU YAF) has been named the February 2025 YAF Chapter of the Month.
ERAU YAF is leading the fight against Embry-Riddle’s totalitarian speech ban, including the school’s blocking of de-transitioner Chloe Cole from speaking on campus while allowing leftist students to continue promoting radical gender ideology.
In addition to blocking Cole from speaking, the school did not allow ERAU YAF to:
Create a display of Israeli flags showing support for Israel and the hostages taken by Hamas.
Participate in YAF’s 9/11: Never Forget Project, where 2,977 American flags are set up to remember each innocent life lost in the attack.
Organize a “Biology Basics activism project” which highlighted that there are only two sexes.
Hand out flyers promoting Chloe Cole coming to campus.
Organize a “Funeral for Halloween” which lampoons “politically correct” restrictions on costumes that commit “cultural appropriation”
Set up YAF’s Pro-Life Timeline activism project and ask students what stage of fetal development that life begins.
The school also implemented a ban requiring all activities that the school deemed as “political” to be conducted indoors and with security present.
In response to these and other actions taken by the school, ERAU YAF filed a civil rights complaint with the Department of Education for violating federal civil rights laws.
The school then quickly decided the chapter could host Chloe Cole, which they plan to do later this spring, but at this time the event has still not been formally approved by the school. Additionally, the school still enforces the outdoor “political” speech ban, and the chapter vows to not stop fighting until they have their right to speech fully restored.
Chapter Chair Benjamin Isbell stated, “It’s been incredible to see the chapter pull together and push through all the obstacles, including the attempts from the school to shut us down. With strong members and unwavering support from Young America’s Foundation, we will not be silenced, and we won’t go away easily.”
The following members were instrumental in ERAU YAF’s success:
Kari Kasun
Aditya Shastri
Spencer Levi
Brandon Bullard
