The Iowa State University Young Americans for Freedom chapter (ISU YAF) has been named the October 2025 YAF Chapter of the Month.
The highlight of ISU YAF’s month was a standing-room-only event with Elisha Krauss titled “Shattering the Porn Narrative,” aiming to draw attention to the silent epidemic running rampant amongst young adults and children.
ISU YAF described their advertising approach as doing so much advertising that students on campus would become “thoroughly sick” hearing about it. To do this, the chapter spent countless hours chalking messages like “porn exploits women,” “porn causes rape,” and “porn kills love” across campus. The school initially washed away their messaging, claiming that the advertisements were “graffiti.” After lengthy discussions with different school departments, this issue was eventually resolved, and the chapter doubled down on chalking.
The chapter also tabled multiple times each week leading up to the event, as well as hanging up flyers with statistics about porn consumption. Additionally, ISU YAF sent an email advertising the event to the entire student body and other student clubs. The chapter also invited local conservative groups and posted about it on their social media feeds.
Because of their hard work and dedication, the chapter drew a standing-room-only crowd despite poor weather. ISU YAF’s success through hard work serves as a model that all YAF chapters should emulate when promoting their events.
Following the event, ISU YAF Chairman Caleb O’Gara stated, “It was incredibly rewarding for our chapter to see all the work we put in pay off with so many people there. It showed us that we can reach people and change minds if we’re willing to put in the effort.”
