A recent study reveals a significant drop in the number of college applicants identifying as “nonbinary,” potentially marking a collapse point in the Left’s effectiveness of pushing its bizarre gender ideology onto young people. The data, drawn directly from college applications submitted through the Common Application, shows a noticeable decline in the number of students selecting a “nonbinary” gender category in their application forms.
According to the analysis, just 1.88% of college applicants—approximately 23,620 students—chose a nonbinary gender label in the most recent admissions cycle. In the previous cycle, 2.2% of students, or 25,959 individuals, claimed not to fall into the male/female categories.
“That may not seem like a large drop, but it is a huge change from the past few years, when the number of students indicating that they were nonbinary had skyrocketed,” remarked Genny Beemyn, a “transgender” professor at the University of Massachusetts who conducted the research.
Additionally, the study reported that the number of applicants who are so tired of the Left’s ideology that they have begun openly mocking it by listing custom “genders” such as “attack helicopter,” “chair,” “alien,” or “tree” on their applications has more than doubled from 2023 to 2024.
These findings fall in line with the results of a recent national poll conducted by Young America’s Foundation among high school and college students. In the poll, participants ranked “LGBTQ+ issues” as the least important, while placing the economy as their top concern.
