Russell Sage College in New York today announced that its speech and language clinic will soon offer a “gender-affirming voice program” to train “transgender” people of all ages to change their voices to sound like those of the opposite sex.
The program will be modeled after one that was offered by The College of Saint Rose, a recently defunct nearby institution. The so-called “Catholic” college claimed that its unique and intensive approach helped patients make their “coughing, sneezing, and throat-clearing” sound more feminine or masculine, in accordance with the individual’s desired “gender identity.”
Participants will receive 20 hours of training throughout a three month period. The school receives funding through the New York State Department of Health to cover training for those without private insurance.
“You’re taking a flute and making it play like a piccolo,” remarked Jack Pickering, director of the gender-affirming voice program.
Chloe Cole, a Young America’s Foundation speaker and detransitioner, has said that the combination of testosterone and vocal training has left an irreparable mark on the tone of her voice. Unfortunately, by allowing young people to undergo these destructive procedures and training, many more will fall into the same leftist traps that she did.
YAF’s New Guard previously reported on a similar situation at Marquette University in Wisconsin. The Catholic-Jesuit university offered a “gender affirming voice therapy” program of its own to adults and children of all ages. Following YAF’s report, which made national headlines, Marquette removed mention of the offering from its website.
