Viraktep Ath is a rising senior at the University of California, Riverside where he studies English. Viraktep’s engagement in the Conservative Movement stems from his family’s history in Communist Cambodia. Both of Viraktep’s parents, before immigrating to the United States, suffered under the regime of Pol Pot, losing family members and friends to the brutality of the Killing Fields.
Viraktep advocated strongly for the conservative principles of limited government, free markets, and traditional values by founding a YAF Chapter at Fullerton College. Through his active involvement over the years Viraktep has been engaged in both campus activism and local activism to fight for the Conservative Movement.
Transferring to UC Riverside, Viraktep assisted in establishing a conservative club, a YAF Chapter, and a Students for Life group. In addition, Viraktep volunteered for Ted Cruz, serving as the Inland Empire regional co-chair and the Inland Empire regional chair for the Millennials Coalition. Viraktep assisted in the establishment of a group which feels out conservative leaders and advocates for strict constitutional principles in politics
Viraktep is excited to be working this summer with Young America’s Foundation as a William and Berniece Grewcock Intern Scholar. As a result of the many conferences and seminars he attended through Young Americas Foundation in the past, Viraktep was able to be successful in his fight for conservative values as a student activist. He looks forward to continuing his work as a fighter for the Conservative Movement through his involvement with the Foundation this summer.
