In a series of recent reposts on X, a leftist professor at the University of Michigan expressed his apparent support for self-immolation in support of Hamas’ terrorism in Israel.
Charles H.F. Davis, who teaches courses on “Research Methods & Data Analysis,” “Race, Racism, and Anti-Blackness,” and “Activism and Social Movements,” reposted a claim that “The pro-Palestine self-immolations in Atlanta, DC, and Boston are calls to action, not suicides.”
The repost in question references an incident last week in which a man, Matt Nelson, set himself on fire outside the Israeli Consulate in Boston. Prior to his self-immolation, Nelson read a manifesto, which included statements like, “We are slaves to capitalism and the military industrial complex.” He also demanded the imprisonment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for defending Israel against Hamas and other Iran-backed terrorist groups.
The UMich professor also reposted the manifesto.
Given that this is the mindset of the person that the University of Michigan has chosen to lead a course on activism, it may be a good idea for the university to increase its investment in campus fire extinguishers.
Beyond his teaching duties, Professor Davis heads the University of Michigan’s “Campus Abolition Research Lab,” which advocates for eliminating college campus police departments nationwide over ridiculous claims of “racism” and “police brutality.”
Young America’s Foundation previously attempted to obtain public records related to the anti-police project’s spending, but the school denied the request, and the professor’s supporters claimed YAF’s request was “harassment.”
