The California State University-Dominguez Hills is hosting an anti-racism workshop “for white people only,” according to a tip obtained through YAF’s Campus Bias Tip Line.
“There have been a few adverse reactions to the title and signage of the workshop,” noted an email from Dr. Anthony Samad to the campus community. “This was intentional as now is not the time to be passive about racism. It is time for EVERYBODY to be uncomfortable about the time in which we live. What way to bring urgency to the conversation than to remind us what racism really looks like by tying it to a vestige of the past.”
The workshop, which will be held virtually on February 17th, is being hosted by the school’s Mervyn M. Dymally African American Political and Economic Institute. Featured speakers include Eddie Glaude Jr, a professor at Princeton University, and Tim Wise, author of “Between Barack and a Hard Place: Racism and White Denial in the Age of Obama.”
This workshop comes on the heels of YAF’s exclusive story on Elon University’s “white caucus.” The school quickly cancelled the event after YAF’s story received national coverage, noting that the segregated event did not align with the school’s policies.
How many more insane cases of segregation in the name of “wokeism” will we uncover? It’s time for administrators and students to understand that events such as these will ONLY cause more division, not healing.
“Racial retrogression is not a figment of our collective imaginations. It is real,” a sentence from one of the organizer’s statement reads. We agree–events like these hosted to prove wokeness and diversity are harming race relations on campus, not helping. It is one step on the way to leftists mandating critical race theory practices just like these on campuses nationwide–and it must end.
