The article fails to mention that then-Senator Barack Obama spoke on the Senate floor in defense of the filibuster, arguing “The American people want less partisanship in this town, but everyone in this chamber knows that if the majority chooses to end the filibuster — if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate — then the fighting and the bitterness and the gridlock will only get worse.” Others historically in favor of the Senate Filibuster? Senator Chuck Schumer, who regretted Sen. Harry Reid triggering the so-called “nuclear option” back in 2013. Additionally, a group of 61 bipartisan lawmakers wrote a letter in support of the filibuster in 2017, including minority female Senators Tammy Duckworth and Mazie Hirono. Mitchum is no stranger to controversy, tweeting during the Minneapolis riots back in May “Burn. It. Down.” as protestors set fire to a police station. He quickly deleted the tweet after his position as a Georgetown Law professor was exposed. 
This professor clearly is stuck in his SJW higher education bubble. When YAF activists highlighted his position as a professor of law, he labeled them racists and members of the KKK. Newsflash: not everyone who disagrees with you is racist. This is a common tactic abused by the Left to shut down legitimate debate and argument about important topics like the Senate Filibuster. This professor was apparently shocked that someone would dare to challenge him on social media–just imagine if conservative students confronted him in class about his far-Left talking points. As a Professor of Law, Mitchum should uphold the rule of law–not advocating for mob rule and the burning of buildings, or labeling anyone or anything with which he disagrees as “racist” to silence dissent.
