‘Get a SICK INSTA’: UMich Students Protest Trump With Panties
A sorority at the University of Michigan sent an email to members inviting them to protest the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump by donating three dollars or more for a custom pair of panties. All proceeds are set to go to Planned Parenthood.
The message, obtained exclusively by Young America’s Foundation, can be seen below.
“With the donation of at least $3 you will get a personalized pair of panties with your name, hometown, and message,” the email read.
“All proceeds will be donated to Planned Parenthood and for a donation of $10 or more we’ll send you a pic of your panties at the march so you can get a SICK INSTA OUT OF IT #Guaranteed300Likes,” it concluded.
The goal of the organizers’, who will be in attendance at the Women’s March on Washington this Saturday, was to “create away [sic] for as many people to march in spirit.” They plan to participate in the march, custom panties in tow, and send pictures back to their peers Michigan.
In response, Young Americans for Freedom National Chairman Grant Strobl, who also chairs YAF at the University of Michigan, stated, “The only thing ‘protest panties’ will accomplish is reducing this protest to a joke instead of empowering women.”
