Columbia University has been on lockdown since yesterday afternoon as the result of a leftist encampment that has overtaken the New York City private school’s campus.
Hundreds of radicalized students, as well as some members of the general public, have set up tents and aim to occupy the grounds for as long as possible, according to social media posts.
Jonathan Lederet, a Jewish student at Columbia, told National Review that he heard the leftists chanting “Intifada, intifada,” and “death to [the] Zionist state,” among many other vile and anti-semitic slogans.
In an effort to secure the university, NYPD and campus police are currently requiring student IDs in order to enter campus.
Some student organizers who failed to heed administrators’ warnings to disperse have also been suspended as of this morning.
“We both just got emails from Barnard saying we are temporarily suspended,” two students told a reporter. “But we’re still staying. They can expel every single one of us and we’ll still be here. They can put us in jail and we’ll come back and tent again,” they added.
Another Jewish student who spoke with National Review said that she has been called a “‘Zionist b—h,’ and ‘genocidal b—h,’” and added that her friend was spat on while walking to class.
Some Jewish students are so concerned for their safety that they have had to move into new housing arrangements and even transfer to other colleges.
Young America’s Foundation is currently working to equip conservative students on campuses throughout the country to fight back against the Left’s appalling behavior.
