Leftists wring their hands about class division in the United States, but they are the ones causing class division. Progressives use income tax to take money from one group and redistribute it to another.
President Woodrow Wilson first did this with a 7% income tax in 1913. By the time President Franklin Roosevelt was in office, the income tax was raised to 94% on all income over $200,000. President Roosevelt used this money to not only fund his New Deal, but also to take money from some people and redistribute it to others.
The progressive use of income tax is antithetical to the true purpose of taxation. The true purpose of taxation is to raise money to run the government, not to steal from one group and give to another.
