Jasmyn Jordan Named National Chairman for Young Americans for Freedom

Young America’s Foundation is proud to name 20-year-old University of Iowa student Jasmyn Jordan as the new national chairman for Young Americans for Freedom (YAF).

As national YAF chairman, Jasmyn will oversee the country’s largest coast-to-coast on-campus network of young conservatives while maintaining her extensive academic and extracurricular work at the University of Iowa.

Since its founding by William F. Buckley, Jr. in 1960, YAF has excelled at empowering young conservatives who have fueled the Conservative Movement’s most significant victories. From elevating Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan to our students today—the most impactful and influential voices for freedom are inspired by what they’ve learned through YAF.

Jasmyn is no exception. She is another leader in the long line of passionate conservatives who understand the need to protect and advance the principles of limited government, traditional values, free enterprise, and a strong national defense.

Jasmyn joined YAF her freshman year and quickly rose through the leadership ranks, holding the positions of secretary, vice chair, and chair within her first nine months of involvement.

Not one to remain on the sidelines, Jasmyn organized a detransistion table before a “trans visibility day” to raise awareness for an upcoming YAF lecture featuring the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh.

This event would be pivotal for Jasmyn and her Iowa YAF chapter. The lecture became the largest conservative event on campus, attracting more than 800 attendees in person and 5.9 million more online, drawing Leftist hate and rage from across the country.

As a result of her chapter’s efforts, Jasmyn soon faced death threats, stalking, doxing, and harassment. Protestors blocked streets, tore down posters, spat on event attendees, and dumped water on tables to ruin YAF handouts.

Despite this, Jasmyn and her team prevailed in hosting Walsh, and she remained unafraid to stand for her beliefs. She continued to take on the third rail of campus politics—gender ideology—by hosting destransitioner Chloe Cole in front of a capacity audience. Jasmyn also hosted successful campus events featuring Lt. Col. Allen West, Kellyanne Conway, and other conservative leaders.

Through her work with YAF on campus, Jasmyn has become a powerful voice for young conservatives. In late 2023, she testified before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee about the personal attacks she has faced for defending free speech on campus.

Jasmyn has appeared regularly on Fox News, Newsmax, and NewsNation, in addition to frequent interviews with many other media outlets.

“Jasmyn continues to exemplify courage and poise in the face of overwhelming hate from those who despise the very values upon which our nation was founded,” said Governor Scott Walker, president of Young America’s Foundation. “I know Jasmyn’s voice and leadership will continue to have a substantial impact on her peers in Gen Z, on campuses across the country, and on the hearts and minds of those who have yet to learn about the life-changing principles of conservatism. We are thrilled to partner with Jasmyn in YAF’s fight for freedom nationwide.”

In a statement to YAF, Jasmyn expressed her excitement about taking on the new role. “I am incredibly grateful for all of the opportunities and growth YAF has provided me in the past few years,” said Jasmyn. “Being a part of the organization was the first time I felt I could truly express what I believe. I’m looking forward to helping other young people learn about the principles that have made our country the leader of the free world.”

Outgoing national chairman Grant Strobl praised Jasmyn’s appointment to the new role and thanked YAF for the opportunity to serve, stating:

It has been the privilege of my young life to serve as national chairman of Young Americans for Freedom. I have been blessed to represent young conservatives nationwide in our fight to proliferate conservative values in our schools and popular culture.

I cannot think of another more experienced and deserving student to pass the torch of freedom to than Jasmyn Jordan. Jasmyn’s experience as a bold and uncompromising leader of her YAF chapter at the University of Iowa and her experience on the national stage make her remarkably well-prepared for her new role.

YAF’s network of thousands of student activists has much to gain from Jasmyn Jordan’s keen insight into the trends of leftist orthodoxy at our nation’s schools.

In this pivotal year for freedom in our country, the staff, board, and leadership of Young America’s Foundation are excited to work alongside Jasmyn to advance the cause of conservatism. No doubt, Ronald Reagan and William F. Buckley, Jr. would be proud to know their treasured youth organization continues to advance freedom through leaders like Jasmyn Jordan.
