Campus leftists at the University of Iowa are planning a “Day of Revenge” in response to the recent arrests of nine individuals who blocked traffic outside of the Iowa Young Americans for Freedom chapter’s October lecture featuring Chloe Cole, a young detransitioner who courageously stands up against the Left’s gender ideology.
Flyers advertising the planned December 8 “Day of Revenge” depict a masked figure beating Herky the Hawk, the university’s mascot, with a spiked bat.
Attendees are instructed to “cover face,” “cover hair,” and “wear black.
According to the postings, the event is planned “In response to the targeted arrest of nine transgender activists this year by the Iowa City Police for peacefully protesting at the [Iowa Memorial Union], and the continuing anti-trans legislation in Iowa”
In reality, the protestors were not “peacefully protesting” at the event venue. They were standing in the middle of an intersection outside the venue, holding up traffic and refusing to comply with law enforcement’s orders to vacate.
Jasmyn Jordan, chair of Iowa YAF, told the New Guard that she respects the rights of the protestors to voice their disagreements with Chloe Cole’s lecture, but that they “must do so within the confines of the law.”
The YAF chapter is looking forward to hosting even more impactful YAF speakers in the months to come.
The New Guard contacted the University of Iowa’s ANTIFA chapter with a request for comment, but has yet to hear back. This article will be updated accordingly.
