American actress and model Kate Upton took to instagram Sunday night to comment on several NFL players’ decision to sit, kneel, or raise their fists in protest of the Star Spangled Banner on the 15th anniversary of September 11. https://www.instagram.com/p/BKO8_ZGA87r/?hl=en “Sitting or kneeling down during the national anthem is a disgrace,” wrote the 24 year old Michigan native. “Sitting down during the national anthem on September 11 is even more horrific.” “We live in the most special place in the world and should be thankful,” Upton noted. “I believe everyone should put their hands on their heart and proud of our country for we are all truly blessed.” The vitriol launched against Upton’s comments was immediate, even though she went out of her way to clarify in her post, telling those who disagree to “protest all you want and use social media all you want.” Several users called out Upton’s pro-America comments as a symptom of her “white privilege,” others called her “racist” and said she could “never understand nor comprehend.” As students across the nation participated in YAF’s 9/11: Never Forget Project over the weekend, campus leftists at Cal State-LA, Saddleback College, The University of Michigan, Occidental College, and the University of Florida exhibited similar disrespect for the American flag and those who lost their lives in the attacks.
