More Than 200 Schools Remember Victims of 9/11 On 16th Anniversary of Attacks

More than 200 schools around the country participated in YAF’s 9/11: Never Forget Project to remember the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, placing 2,977 American flags—one for each victim—in the ground to remind their peers the magnitude of the loss our nation suffered. Without the patriotic student activists who work to create these memorials each year, many schools would overlook the importance of the day or attempt to promote a politically-correct version of what happened in the skies over the east coast 16 years ago.
Sadly, some schools have attempted to block this iconic display, and students at some campuses attempt to divide schools on the anniversary of 9/11. Despite opposition, YAF continues to unite students around the country in meaningful remembrance of the lives lost on that clear September morning. Young America’s Foundation created the 9/11: Never Forget Project in 2003 to help students create meaningful memorials to the innocent victims of Islamist terrorists and inspire commitment to defend our freedoms whenever they’re attacked. Since its creation, more than 10.4 million American flags have been placed in displays across the nation.
See below for live updates from around the country as students take part in this iconic activism project!
