Young America’s Foundation is excited to unveil the results of the 2024 Understanding Students’ Views on Current Issues poll.
Conducted by Echelon Insights and commissioned by YAF, this comprehensive survey offers a deep dive into the thoughts and concerns of young people in America, with participation from more than 1,600 high school and college students between the ages of 15 and 24.
Key findings from the survey include:
– Biden’s Approval Rating Continues to Plummet
Only 30% of college students approve of President Joe Biden, a significant decline from the 62% approval rating he achieved at the beginning of his term.
Even among self-identified liberal college students, the majority (53%) indicated that they somewhat or strongly disapprove of his performance.
– The Economy Is Students’ #1 Concern
In the midst of a struggling job market and soaring inflation, the economy remains the primary concern for students, with 48% of high school students and 44% of college students identifying it as their top issue.
– Students Have No Patience For Political Corruption
In a political reality in which elected officials often enrich themselves through dubious means, 32% of high school students and 28% of college students cited political corruption as a major concern.
– Students Are Largely Unconcerned With Leftist Social Issues
Despite the Left’s never-ending focus on “progressive” social issues, students are largely indifferent. Only 12% of high school students and 25% of college students consider abortion to be a top concern, while racial issues and LGBTQ+ “rights” are even less of a priority. Racial issues were listed as a concern by just 17% of high school students and 14% of college students, and LGBTQ+ issues fell to the very bottom of the list, with only 12% of high school students and 15% of college students deeming them important.
“Our polling shows the biggest issue young people care about right now is the economy,” remarked Young America’s Foundation President Governor Scott Walker. “Unsurprisingly, their ability to freely express themselves on college campuses continues to be of great importance, as well. It’s crucial that YAF continues to teach high school and college students the timeless principles of individual liberty and the free market so that future generations ensure the continued success of our great nation.”
