On the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, students at more than 200 schools across America participated in the 9/11: Never Forget Project, created by Young America’s Foundation in 2003.
Each memorial is made up of 2,977 American flags—one for each innocent life stolen from us that fateful day. To date, more than 12 million flags have been planted.
