In response, conservative students attempted to work with YAF to host Paula Scanlan to speak up for the rights of real women.
Unsurprisingly, the school quickly rejected the proposal, claiming that Scanlan’s beliefs that men are men and women are women are so controversial that they might elicit a violent and uncontrollable response from leftist activists.
Despite the university’s use of the heckler’s veto in a clear attempt to shut out conservative voices, Paula and YAF showed up anyway to get students’ thoughts on the issues:
“I was most surprised because every time a student was asked their thoughts on whether or not males should compete in women’s sports, they quickly told me that they are uneducated on the matter,” Scanlan remarked. “When asked if people could identify as a different race or a different age, there was no hesitation in saying no. It’s clear that no one is comfortable pointing out these simple realities. Far too many students have been misled to believe that they can identify that way however they please.”
