Campaign organizers for an organization called “Queers for Climate Justice” Natalis Villarán Quiñones and Deseree Fontenot have been invited to speak at San Francisco State University, according to a tip received through Young America’s Foundation’s Campus Bias Tip Line.
While leftists at the public institution are given very frequent opportunities to hear from their side’s “experts,” a review of the university’s calendar suggests that conservative ideas are never given the same opportunities at this school.
The event’s description notes that students will watch a film, “Can’t Stop Change: Queer Climate Stories from the Florida Frontline,” and then have a chance to participate in a question-and-answer session with Quiñones, one of the filmmakers.
Following the screening and Q&A, Fontenot will encourage students to “explore ecological diversity, resilience and complexity from a Queer Ecological framework,” whatever that may mean.
This event is being put-on by six different leftist organizations within the university, including its “Environment Resource Center,” “Race and Resistance Studies Department,” “Climate HQ,” and “Queer Trans Resource Center.”
The New Guard reviewed San Francisco State’s calendars throughout the past five years and found no evidence of speakers who promote conservative ideas being hosted by a department, let alone six departments in collaboration with one another.
If universities truly care about promoting diversity, they should promote diversity of thought by bringing conservative perspectives to campus.
Instead of promoting the bizarre ideas of these “queers for climate justice” who seek to tie their made-up “gender identities” to their beliefs that the planet is going to explode in ten years, universities should host speakers who fearlessly confront the lies of the Left’s environmentalism agenda with common sense and reason such as Alex Epstein, Ann McElhinney, Chris Horner, and Phelim McAleer, who are all available through Young America’s Foundation’s Campus Lecture Program.
