Today marks the three-year anniversary of the horrific October 7 terrorist attack carried out by Hamas and jihadist radicals against the people of Israel.
On that day, more than 1,000 people were brutally murdered, tortured and taken hostage by Hamas terrorists. Innocent civilians were attacked in their homes, at a music festival and throughout communities in southern Israel. Families were torn apart, loved ones were killed and others were taken hostage and held captive for months.
We must remember who carried out this attack and refuse to let the events of that day be rewritten or whitewashed. October 7 was an attack on innocent civilians simply living their lives. Men, women, children and the elderly were targeted because they were Israeli and Jewish.
Three years later, we must continue to remember the victims and their families, the survivors who continue to live with the scars of that day, and those who were taken hostage.
We remember October 7 because forgetting what happened risks allowing the truth to be distorted. We must remember the victims, stand with those who survived and ensure that the brutality of that day is never erased from history.
