Saint Mary’s College, a Catholic institution in Indiana, recently adjusted its admissions policy to allow men who claim to be women to apply and gain admittance to the historically all-women’s college.
The new admissions policy, which a concerned student submitted to Young America’s Foundation’s Campus Bias Tip Line, states that “Saint Mary’s considers admission for undergraduate applicants whose sex is female or who consistently live and identify as women.”
The previous version of this policy strictly allowed biological, actual women to apply.
“With this new policy, Saint Mary’s is actively denying truth and turning its back on the principles this school was founded on,” Macy Gunnell, a conservative student who works in the admissions office, told the New Guard. “At this point, calling Saint Mary’s a Catholic women’s college is false advertising. A man cannot be a woman, and that is a fact. This acceptance of men who fall under delusion completely erases and mocks what it means to be a woman. It is quite sickening to live in a time where so many people deny facts and compromise other people’s property in the name of ‘acceptance’. Furthermore, I am shocked at the amount of students here who support this policy and are so complicit in letting men take over the few things that are designated just for us. Being a woman is not a costume to be worn, and it is not for everyone. I fear for what is to come next here at Saint Mary’s with this mockery of reality. Academic institutions and the rest of society cannot keep catering to the delusion and insanity of woke ideologies. Saint Mary’s must retract this policy if they truly value what it actually means to be a woman.”
The college’s spokesperson declined to comment on this sudden and significant change.
This isn’t the first time that the New Guard has reported on leftist ideology apparently taking precedence over Church teaching at Saint Mary’s. In 2021, the institution started what has become an annual celebration of “pride week,” featuring programing such as “God is Proud of You: LGBTQ+ Catholicism” and “Menstrual Justice.”
