Frank Donatelli, member of Young America’s Foundation’s Board of Directors and chairman of the Reagan Ranch Board of Governors issued the following statement on the passing of Senator John McCain: “Senator John McCain’s service to his country began 60 years ago when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his service in the Vietnam War, he spent five years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam. As a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and a six-term U.S. Senator, McCain displayed strong support for veterans, fought for fiscal responsibility, and advocated for a strong American presence abroad. He demonstrated an unshakable commitment to the ideals of freedom and democracy. His campaign slogan in 2008, ‘Country First,’ perfectly captures the essence of his career, which was love of country. He lived a full and consequential life, and we mourn his passing.” The staff and Board of Young America’s Foundation grieve at the loss of Senator McCain and pray for his family and loved ones.
