It’s no secret that college campuses bend over backwards to prove their commitment to “equality” and “diversity,” but when it comes to course selections at our nation’s top universities, America’s gender studies departments come off looking pretty hypocritical. It turns out the leftists in academia who love to preach equality are only interested in studying women’s issues. We’re stunned. The New Guard took a look at the top ten public universities in America to see how many classes offered by these champions of equality actually bother to focus on the 50% of the population that is not female. We found one. ONE class focused on men. Out of the top public universities in the country the only male-centric gender studies class we could find is a course called “Men and Masculinities” offered by the University of Virginia. For the purposes of this investigation, courses listed by schools with “women’s studies” departments were included under the broader umbrella of gender studies. As we browsed the course catalogs, we found a wide variety of classes focused broadly on “gender,” many focused specifically on women, but just this one class specifically focused on men. If you were looking for a “gender gap,” we’ve found one, and it’s perpetrated by the universities that claim adamantly to be “inclusive.” Memo to our country’s progressive gender studies professors: If you allocate all of your resources to women and none to men, you’re sexist by your own definition. As usual, the Left is blind to its own hypocrisy.
