Daniel Weldon is a rising junior at the University of Florida studying political science and history. Daniel founded his Young Americans for Freedom chapter last spring after he learned about Young America’s Foundation at CPAC. He started the chapter to help conservative students whose voices were being largely ignored by the University of Florida’s administration. As chairman, Daniel has led UF YAF in multiple successful activism events to promote conservative ideas including the 9/11: Never Forget Project, Freedom Week, and a Socialist Bake Sale. University of Florida Young Americans for Freedom hosted Ben Shapiro, drawing a capacity crowd of more than 750 students to the lecture hall with hundreds more unable to fit inside the venue. His chapter has been featured several times in local newspapers for their bold activism, and Young America’s Foundation named UF YAF the nationwide chapter of the month this past March. Outside of Young Americans for Freedom, Daniel is a student body senator at the University of Florida and a linebacker for the Gators. In his spare time, Daniel loves to read, hike, swim, and run. Daniel is extremely honored to be interning for Young America’s Foundation as it has been one of his goals since learning about the Foundation’s mission. Daniel cannot wait to help advance conservative ideas through YAF’s conferences and projects for high school and college students.
