A screening of Damaged: The Transing of America’s Kids, a Daily Caller original documentary starring Young America’s Foundation speaker Chloe Cole, was abruptly shut down by campus police Wednesday evening after leftists took over the venue and began loudly chanting.
For more than 15 minutes, nearly 70 leftist protestors who packed themselves into the room chanted “hey hey, ho ho, transphobia has got to go.”
The University of Utah’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter is preparing to host a campus lecture featuring Cole, a victim of the Left’s gender ideology, at the end of this month.
“I tried to do an introduction of the film for those who were there to learn about the horrific experiences that Chloe and others featured in the documentary have gone through, but each time I would talk, people would yell,” Lucy Atwood, chair of Utah YAF, told the New Guard.
After some time had gone by, campus police warned the disruptors that they must either calm down or leave the room.
The chapter began playing the film with subtitles turned on as the leftists refused to comply with law enforcement’s orders.
A few minutes later, police informed chapter leadership that the event needed to be shut down and began escorting all attendees and protestors out of the building.
The chapter looks forward to hosting Cole for an in-person lecture on November 30. YAF’s legal team is working to ensure that campus police will do their jobs – escorting out disruptors without shutting down the entire event – for that event.
The University of Utah did not respond to the New Guard’s request for comment.
