UCM Counters Allen West Lecture With CAIR Speaker The Muslim Students’ Association, Saudi Students Club, and Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity at the University of Central Missouri are set to host an event to “raise awareness about Muslim culture” at the same time as Lt. Col. Allen West’s YAF-sponsored lecture Wednesday night. Lt. Col. West, who is visiting the school as part of Young America’s Foundation’s Fred Allen Lecture Series, will be speaking on radical Islamic terrorism and national security at UCM Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The event organized by the aforementioned groups, which was announced just last week, long after the announcement of West’s lecture, will also take place Wednesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and feature a speaker from the radical Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). UCM_2UCM’s Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity is an official office of the school and is funded by university auxiliary funds as well as the Office of Mentoring, Advocacy and Peer Support. This information, located on UCM’s website, means Missouri taxpayer resources, whether that’s staff time, operational expenses, honorarium funds, or more, are being used to plan an event with a speaker from CAIR, an organization many believe to be a terrorist front group. According to Islam expert Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch, CAIR was “founded by members and associates of the jihad terror group Hamas in order to support Hamas in the United States.” The organization has been the subject of investigations by the FBI as well as Congress. CAIR also once threatened Young America’s Foundation with a lawsuit for inviting Robert Spencer to address the National Conservative Student Conference. In 2014, CAIR named Lt. Col. West to its list of “Islamophobic individuals.” In response, Lt. Col. West wrote that CAIR is “complicit and supportive of Islamist activity in America,” calling the group “an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest Islamic terrorist funding case in US History, the Holy Land Foundation trial.” Is this program an activity the people of Missouri want an official arm of taxpayer-funded UCM to be “collaborating” on?
