At the University of Michigan, Stalinist students disguised in ski masks posted pro-communist, anti-Trump posters in front an event with George Harbison on the “Victims of Socialism.”
The posters appear to be Soviet-era pro-Stalin, anti-Hitler propaganda now used as a meme to oppose President Trump. The posters show Hitler’s face was replaced with President Trump’s face, with text translated to mean “Beat Hitler” both politically and physically.
Collectively, the National Socialists (Nazis) and the Communists in the USSR alone killed over 60 million people. Supporting either Hitler or Stalin is evil. Implying that Stalin is superior to a freely elected President Trump in a republic with the strict separation of powers outlined the U.S. Constitution is ignorant and scary.
Furthermore, the students disguised in face masks in their attempt to hang these posters and intimidate attendees may be in violation of federal law that was originally intended to stop masked KKK nightriders. In 18 U.S. Code § 241, it is specifically a criminal violation for “two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured.”
Young Americans for Freedom is proud to expose the evils of socialism, and has, since its founding, led the fight for limited government, individual liberty, free enterprise, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. In fact, engrained in YAF’s founding document, the Sharon Statement, is the need to seek “victory over, rather than coexistence” with communist and totalitarian regimes.
While the left remains proud of their past of tyranny under Stalin, YAF remains proud of our legacy of freedom. The masked leftist nightriders are showing their true colors.
