Seinfeld’s protestors were booed, and less than 5% of those who threatened to walk out of Youngkin’s speech actually followed through.
Demonstrating a disturbing intolerance for opposing viewpoints, leftist students staged walkouts during commencement speeches by Jerry Seinfeld and Governor Glenn Youngkin this past weekend.
Unfortunately for the leftists, their protests failed to gain any significant support, and both commencement speakers continued unfazed.
At Duke University, a couple dozen students disrupted the legendary comedian’s speech with chants of “free, free Palestine.
Seinfeld, who is Jewish, has been a vocal supporter of Israel since the October 7 attacks. He visited Tel Aviv in December to raise awareness of the hostages who have been taken by Hamas.
At Virginia Commonwealth University, masked students walked out chanting, “Tell Youngkin no more!” and “History we will liberate.”
“My family’s going to be mad, but it’s worth it for what he’s done to [black] and trans [people],” a student reportedly told a local radio reporter.
“Worth noting that as many as 800 students threatened to walk out of Governor Youngkin’s commencement address today – in the end less than 40 actually did,” remarked Matt Whitlock, a conservative commentator. “Probably because it was such a good speech.”

These incidents underscore the findings of Young America’s Foundation’s 32nd Annual Commencement Speaker Survey and 2nd Annual Commencement Ceremony Segregation Report. Universities are fostering environments that demand ideological conformity over diversity of thought–so much so that students openly reject, rather than engage with, perspectives that differ from their own.
