RESTON, VA—Young America’s Foundation (YAF) is pleased to announce that Vice President Mike Pence will address students on August 4 as part of YAF’s 39th annual National Conservative Student Conference (NCSC) held in Washington, D.C.
Vice President Pence has been an ally of Young America’s Foundation for many years, routinely taking time out of his schedule while serving in the House of Representatives to speak to our student audiences. Young America’s Foundation was also honored to welcome Vice President Pence and his family to the Reagan Ranch in 2005. Vice President Pence’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of Americans is an example for our nation’s leaders.
The Vice President has used his platform as a bold leader to defend constitutional rights, especially First Amendment freedoms on college campuses. In a speech at Notre Dame’s commencement this spring, Vice President Pence called for universities to once again become “a vanguard of freedom of expression and the free exchange of ideas.”
The Vice President echoed Young America’s Foundation’s condemnation of university administrators who suppress free speech, decrying the fact that “far too many campuses across America have been characterized by speech codes, safe spaces, tone policing, administration-sanctioned political correctness…all of which amounts to the suppression of free speech.”
Vice President Pence joins a long list of top administration officials and world leaders who’ve addressed YAF audiences throughout our history including, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, George W. Bush, Milton Friedman, Lech Walesa, William F. Buckley, Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, Tony Abbott, Ed Meese, Elaine Chao, Tony Snow, John Ashcroft, and Jeane Kirkpatrick, among others.
