Leftists were caught on camera tearing down posters advertising an upcoming YAF lecture featuring Matt Walsh at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign yesterday evening by members of the school’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter.
“He’s a f–ing right-winger. He wants to genocide trans people,” a student is heard saying in video footage obtained exclusively by YAF.
The posters simply feature the title, date, time, and location of the upcoming event, printed above an image of Walsh, which is apparently all it takes to anger irate campus leftists.
“He’s a super far right-wing Republican who doesn’t believe in trans rights,” the student tells members of the university’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter who confront him. “I will debate Matt Walsh, if that is something that will happen,” he goes on to declare.
The University of Illinois event will be Walsh’s second stop on his “What is a Woman?” college campus screening tour. Throughout the next two months, Walsh will travel with YAF to college campuses throughout the country to personally screen his hit documentary and answer questions afterwards.
This isn’t the first time that Walsh lecture posters have caused controversy. Last year, administrators at Saint Louis University confronted a student who was hanging up flyers on public property. Weeks later, the student was threatened with expulsion, ultimately receiving a year-long disciplinary probation and being required to perform 50 hours of manual labor on campus.
“Our chapter is looking forward to hosting Matt next Thursday. We welcome conservatives and liberals alike to come out and ask questions and challenge ideas. Respect is at the forefront of our mission, but our values will not be undermined by those who disagree,” UIUC Young Americans for Freedom Chairwoman Bailey Parks-Moore told YAF.
YAF reached out to the University of Illinois for comment; the article will be updated accordingly.
