It seems the only real form of “climate change” is that of Cornell University’s campus climate. Wednesday night, students of the snowflake-ridden Ivy League campus finally allowed a conservative to speak on campus after failed attempts to shut down Senator Rick Santorum last semester. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich delivered a lecture on America’s place in the world under President Trump to a room of over 600 students. Organized by the campus conservative club, with support and resources provided by Young America’s Foundation, the lecture offered conservative ideas Cornell students are simply not hearing in their classrooms. A lively question and answer session followed. Gingrich himself was surprised with the civility of students telling the audience, “I came here tonight a little more concerned than usual and I cannot tell you how delighted I am with the attitude, tone, and willingness to really talk about and share ideas amongst a very diverse group.” It seems like the snowflakes matured a bit since last November. Last semester, the conservative club at Cornell brought in Senator Rick Santorum, who was met with vociferous protestors and verbal agitators attempting to shut the speech down. No stranger to protests, Santorum delivered his lecture and stuck it to any protestor who even dared to interrupt him. You can read more about the lecture on The New Guard or watch it in full on our YouTube Channel. Of course, no #OnlyAtYAF lecture is complete without a student’s failed attempt to stump a leader of the Conservative Movement. Sure enough, Gingrich was asked by a student why President Donald Trump does not respect women in the workplace. Politely, Gingrich offered a response listing President Trump’s record of hiring a woman to build one of his skyscrapers, paying women more than the Clinton’s did, and surrounding himself with women advisors during his campaign and as president. Let’s just say that student was left without a response. Young America’s Foundation continues to make an impact on Ivy League campuses. Senator Rick Santorum is slated to speak at Princeton University and Steve Forbes at the University of Pennsylvania on April 18th. Other speakers, like Allen West, Carly Fiorina, and Dinesh D’Souza, will also be speaking for YAF on campuses across America in the month of April. There is still time to host your own #OnlyAtYAF lecture this semester and it is never too early to start thinking about next semester. Be sure to contact Patrick X. Coyle, vice president of Young America’s Foundation, at 800-USA-1776 to begin scheduling your campus lecture.
