Senator Tim Scott has long been an ally of Young America’s Foundation and we commend his delivery of a genuine rebuttal to President Biden’s radical, yet uninteresting joint address to (some of) Congress.
The words he shared already ring true to YAF activists, as they have witnessed this conservative leader share his story long before he was granted the opportunity to be featured on primetime television.
Just months after his appointment by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to the United States Senate, Tim Scott addressed a packed hall at YAF’s 2014 National Conservative Student Conference. He recently spoke again at the Foundation’s capstone conference in 2018.
Taking time to speak with students shows that Senator Scott cares deeply about the future generations of America. He also cares about the quality of education, as mentioned in his rebuttal last night:
“Most of all, I’m saddened that millions of kids have lost a year of learning when they could not afford to lose a single day,” Scott said. “Locking vulnerable kids out of the classroom is locking adults out of their future. Our public schools should have reopened months ago. Other countries did. Private and religious schools did.”
“Science has shown for months that schools are safe. But too often, powerful grown-ups set science aside. And kids like me were left behind. The clearest case I’ve seen for school choice in our lifetime is because we know that education is the closest thing to magic in America,” he said.
