Young America’s Foundation congratulates Governor Mike Pence on being named a candidate for Vice President of the United States. Governor Pence has been an ally of the Foundation, routinely taking time out of his schedule to address our student audiences over the course of his career in public office. It’s clear to us that Governor Pence values the next generation of Americans and actively prioritizes their needs. At our 34th annual National Conservative Student Conference in 2012, then-Congressman Pence eloquently told the student audience, “I am delighted to be able to stand in front of a room of so many young leaders of America, men and women who I just know from the looks in your eyes are going to be leaders in the country.”
He continued, “What I want to do is encourage you on the path that you’ve chosen. You obviously are rising young conservative leaders in America, and you’re young men and women who have, in a very real sense, come to understand at an early age in your life the foundational principles upon which this nation was established, upon which our prosperity rests. They are the principles of limited government and freedom and personal responsibility. I believe, in addition to all of the ideals enshrined in the Constitution and the Declaration, [these principles explain] the extraordinary success of the United States of America.” We are heartened by his sincerity and proven commitment to serving our country’s youngest citizens.
